Flickr-Tastic!

19 10 2008

I thought I would remind you that every so often, I create a little something in Photoshop, and that 97.645% of the time, I upload said something to Flickr. If you want to see my little somethings, go to my Flickr photostream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrcheese and you can comment on them and things of similar effect. I even uploaded something new today!

I also got my last birthday present today (It makes up for the early one because it’s late) – two, count them, two £15 iTunes vouchers! This means that in total this year I have received £50 of iTunes money! I don’t think I’ll be running out very soon, do you?

Happy Birthday!

18 10 2008

Today, as you probably guessed, was my birthday. Well, I say this, but it was also Harry’s birthday as well. How’s that for bad planning? Anyway, what did I get other than Spore?

An iPod Touch (which I’m using to type this)
A 1TB external hard drive (which we had to send back as it didn’t work)
$100 (yes, it was American dollars!)
A case for my iPod
3 books
Another £40 to make £105
£20 iTunes voucher

So, it was a good 15th birthday! And to top it off, we went to the Thai Elephant 2 in Peacehaven for an all-you-can-eat dinner!

Check out one of the cards I got!

PS Episode 2 of Mr Cheese’s Stop Motion Show went live today. See you soon!

More iTunes Ranting

11 09 2008

Well, after waiting for three hours for the music to download onto the memory stick (including having to start again because I accidentally press Undo), I plugged it into Harry’s computer, opened it and got the message “The file could not be opened. It may be damaged or corrupted.” Hah! Three hours! For nothing! So I got down to business and transferred the songs over the internet connection straight into his Shared Documents, which I didn’t want to do because I knew it would be slower. After waiting for that, I showed him how to use iTunes 8 and now he’s in bed listening to Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple.

“Boom!” – Steve Jobs, “Let’s Rock” Event

10 09 2008

Well, it may be “Boom!” and everything’s done for good old Steve Jobs (who’s apparently dead), but it’s certainly not for me. Having downloaded iTunes 8 and it working perfectly on my Mac, getting it to work on Harry’s PC was a rather big hassle. First, it wouldn’t install properly. Then, once it did install, everything was pixelated and pink. Finally, having sorted that out, it won’t find my shared library, which is why I’m now downloading my 257 songs onto a memory stick to transfer them over. You see, he used to just use the shared library to listen to my music, but now it won’t work. That’s Windows for you.

I also had a mini Microsoft Office-related trauma involving the mens’ public toilets, a rather large wooden bat and a bar of lead… No, I’m joking. It was actually a lot less exciting than that. My school have just upgraded to Office 2007, and I had to continue a PowerPoint presentation for homework. However, I saved it onto my memory stick, brought it home and… Uh oh. It’s a .pptx file, and I have Office 2004. Whoops! So I hastily downloaded the 2007 to 2004 file converter from Microsoft, and then got on with choosing my Corporate Identity for my ICT course.

Yippee For Apple!

9 09 2008

I’m very happy today, because Apple held their “Let’s Rock” event today. Amongst iTunes 8, which now features HD TV shows, the new iPod Nano, which comes in:

  • Silver
  • Black
  • Purple
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Red and
  • Oink (otherwise known as Pink)

and also features an iPhone-esque accelerometer which enables Cover Flow and Shake-to-Shuffle. But my favourite part? The new, thinner, better, iPod Touch! Seeing as I want one of my October birthday, this is a good time to release a new one. It includes a built-in speaker, a better UI (User Interface) and they’ve redesigned it to look like an iPhone. Yay! Although I haven’t read the price section yet…

We’re Better, Connected.

2 09 2008

Most of today was spent doing not a lot, and watching Octopussy (James Bond) on a poor-quality VHS, but some of it included getting all the computers in the house networked. This basically involved allowing access through the firewall for each computer, choosing a folder to share and finding it on another computer. Me and Harry also had a debate about why he would or wouldn’t need and iPod Shuffle, which is his latest phase: listening to my music in iTunes. Luckily, he’s not getting grubby fingerprints on my Mac – he’s sharing my library within iTunes on his PC. Anyway, the debate ended up with him deciding to ask for one for his birthday, which is exactly 45 days, 5 hours, 10 minutes and 30 seconds away. Unfortunately for me, this is also my birthday… I’ll try and upload a countdown to the sidebar on the blog if you’re interested. Turns out the only way to get a timer is using javascript, which WordPress doesn’t allow.

Same Old…

31 08 2008

Today was a rather non-exciting day, due to the fact that we could not think of anything to do except go into town. We got up, went into town, where I bought a book – The General, by Robert Muchamore – then we came home again to have lunch before spending the rest of the day pottering around on the computer. I started to sort out my iTunes library, adding a few new songs, and creating a sorting system whereby it only plays songs that I like. In the evening, I took the train home, filled my pencil case for school then came up here to go on my Mac. I found a good games site, which you can find here, where you get “badges” for doing certain things in the games.

Hopefully tomorrow will be more interesting.
