Ho-Hum…

6 01 2009

macworldgrextetWell, I don’t really have much to say at the moment, except I got my English coursework done on time (yippee) and I am definitely not very good at Tetris (boo). Oh, and I can’t wait to see the video of the Apple keynote which may, or may not, have finished yet. It started about 55 minutes ago – any ideas how long before the video will be online anyone?

La Premièr Cadeau

17 10 2008

What’s this, you say? The first present? But it’s my birthday tomorrow! It’s true; I received my received by first birthday present early today, along with £65 early birthday money as well! What was the present? It was Spore Creatures for Nintendo DS. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but it looks good!

So, what will I get tomorrow, on my actual birthday? Who knows (except the people who bought the presents and then proceeded to wrap them up)?

You Have Seven Days Remaining On Your Trial License

7 10 2008

This message is to inform you that you have only seven days remaining on your trial license for Mr Cheese’s Random Ramblings. After this time, your web browser will be blocked from viewing this webpage. To view your details or to purchase a full license, click here.

Just kidding! You can stay as long as you want! I just said that because it’s the topic of today’s post: free trials.

I have downloaded a few free trials for my Mac recently; Notebook, MacJournal and a game called Hordes Of Orcs. In fact, I’m using MacJournal right now to type this!

I found Hordes Of Orcs a little boring. It’s very repetitive and I just got tired of watching the same thing happening on every level.

I’m still trying Notebook, but from what I’ve seen of it, it’s really good! I don’t think I’ll be paying the $50 (£28.66) to purchase the full version. At least, not until I have a real need for it other than playing.

Finally, MacJournal. This is the first time I have used it, typing this post, so I have no idea whether it’s a good-un or not. I’ll have to wait and use my seven days to find out.

I’ll post back later with the test results!

A Game Of Chess

4 10 2008

I’ve been carrying on teaching Harry chess, and since I was on my own today, I decided to play my two chess games on the computer against each other. So, it was Apple Chess against Chessmaster 9000. Who do you think won? I’d like to say it was good old Apple, but since Chessmaster 9k is a professional chess game, it had the expert knowledge to checkmate Apple’s King in 8 moves! 1-0 to Chessmaster!

I just installed 9k on Harry’s PC. He’s playing on Beginner mode and so far all I’ve heard from the other room is “Checkmate” around 6 times. He’s still not the best player in the world…

Clunk, Clunk

14 09 2008

The mini 8.9″ laptop is back! I built a toy train track today, out of Brio, the wooden track. I made it fill the living room, getting in everybody’s way. I made it just to show Harry how it supposed to be done, but he didn’t come round, so I had rto put it away before he even saw it. Some statement that was.

Lego Star Wars: The Compete Saga has been on the PS3 for most of the weekend, not me playing, but sometimes I helped with some parts of it. One of the few times it wasn’t on was this afternoon, when we watched the Italian Grand Prix.

Oh, My Feet!

13 09 2008

This morning we went for a walk into Seaford to buy some onions, but ended up also buying a book, some sweets, some cakes, some biscuits and lunch. I had a cheese, ham and onion toastie for lunch, which was very nice. All that walking, however, has made my legs hurt! In a while, I’m going to help out in the garden by pulling up all the weeds on the lawn.

I’ve been playing Pokémon Pearl on DS lately, and for those of you that know what I’m talking about, my Monferno is up to level 35 – one more level up and it’ll evolve again! And my Magikarp, which was at level 5 when I caught it (and only knew the pointless Splash) has evolved into Gyrados Level 28 and knows a large variety of moves. Yay!

Boring, Boring, Boring

8 09 2008

Nothing, and I mean nothing, interesting happened today. I played a bit of Pokémon Pearl on my DS, but nothing else major. I got some reading homework in English, which involves reading a book called Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor. It’s a very, very old book – in the publishing info page, it says reprinted in 1988! I have to read an hour of it by Friday, which should be fairly easy; I like reading!

Tomorrow, I have ICT twice and then Media – that should be fun. I should point out that I don’t know whether it’s Core ICT or Digital Imaging, seeing as my timetable just says ICT or ICT GCSE each time, but either are good!
