Mr Cheese’s Skiing Adventure

2 04 2009

At the time of writing, it’s 17 hours and 20 minutes until the Epic Mr Cheese Skiing Adventure Begins. You may have already noticed the well-suited temporary new header image (which actually shows Austria, where I’m going for the Adventure) and if not, look up to the top of the page, right now!

It’s a school ski trip to Alpendorf, Austria for a week with skiing all day everyday, Sunday-Thursday. We’re going by coach at 3:40 on Friday, leaving Eastbourne for Folkestone, where it’s onto the Eurotunnel for a while, when Calais all the way to the hotel in Alpendorf. All together it’s about a 14 hour trip, so I have my iPod and a pillow packed for the journey!

If there’s (free) wi-fi at the resort-type-place, I’ll blog each day about the adventures so far. If not, I’ll save posts as drafts then post them as one long ski trip novel when we get back on Saturday at about 12:30 pm.

I’ll be taking my camera, so watch this space for some snowy-white photos!

Oh, and for obvious reasons, don’t go expecting new MCSMS episodes for the next couple of weeks (unless you can tell me how to upload to YouTube from halfway up a mountain, that is). That’s Saturday 4th and Saturday 11th, for those calendar-worshipping people out there.

See you soon!

Super-Ultra-Mega-Yay!

27 12 2008

MacBook2008I’m really, really, really, really, really happy! Do you know why? It’s because I don’t need to order my new MacBook any more! We went into Brighton today, to Solutions, and bought it! In fact, I’m typing this post from “Mr MacBook”! I was in the process of adding bookmarks to Safari and downloading my favourite applications such as NetNewsWire and Adium when I realised that I needed to post about it! I got a 13″ Aluminium MacBook with 2GB RAM (more than my iMac at home!) and a 160GB hard drive (Less than my iMac at home) and it’s rather nice. It has a multi-touch trackpad so I can swipe with different combinations of fingers for different effects – for example, a three-finger swipe to the left in Safari is essentially the same as pressing the Back button in the browser. It’s really good! And the best part is, it’s all mine! No-one to tell me what applications I can install or anything! Yay!

I’m off to do some more customising. See you soon!

November Stats

5 12 2008

Just a little post to show the decline in popularity over the last month 😦

Total Views:  263 (-29.2%)

Average Views Per Day:  9 (-25%)

Please keep an eye on Mr Cheese’s Random Ramblings, if not for you, for the internet!

Getting Ready To Go!

7 11 2008

We’re in the V-Room, the airport lounge for Virgin, as I type this. There’s a big window, binoculars to see through, unlimited (and free) food and drink, and the best part? We get to stay here until the gate opens for our flight! The filght is due to leave at 11:15, and the departure board says that it is On Time! I’m all set with my camera to take some photos of the plane and related stuffage.

Not much else to say now, other than “See you for another blog post tonight after a 9-hour flight to Orlando, FL and a short drive from the airport to the villa! Next time you read Mr Cheese’s, it will have come from Across The Pond!”

Again, Again!

1 11 2008

Guess what! I can’t upload the next Mr Cheese’s Stop Motion Show today, yet again. Why? Because I don’t have the title or credits clips to bolt on to my newest video! I promise, though, that I will get future videos uploaded on the Saturday, every time!

I also have the October stats. I hope everyone participated in the experiment and introduced one person!

  • Total Views: 371 (+ 53.3%)
  • Average Views Per Day: 12 (+ 50%)

Well, would you look at that! A 50% increase in views! It seems that some of you (about half, maybe) did introduce someone new! Either that or more people searched Google for Mr Cheese…

Poladroid

26 10 2008

A new application was recommended to me today called Poladroid. You feed it an image from your computer and it processes it to look like an old Polaroid photo. You even have to wait for it to develop! There’s a demo video here. I also have some before and after shots:

So, it’s fun to use (you can even shake the developing images to make them show up quicker) and produces Polaroid-like results. I’ve even noticed that it discolours the photos slightly, just like a real Polaroid! Also, when you have ten images on your desktop, if you try to make another one, a dialog box will pop up:

How realistic is that? There is some bad news though. Firstly, the instruction manual and some of the menus are in French. Second, it’s Mac only, so tough luck, Windows users! I’ve had fun using it and although it’s a tad pointless, I won’t be deleting it just yet!

It’s time for another first on Mr Cheese’s Random Ramblings: a poll!

September Stats

14 10 2008

Just a quickie to post the blog statistics for September:

  • Total Views – 242 (+83%)
  • Average Views Per Day – 8 (+14.29%)

Publicity of Mr Cheese’s is on the up! Here’s a little experiment. Everyone who reads this post should introduce at least one friend or family member. Then we can see how much of an increase there is for October!
